Frequently asked questions

Can I use altered cards for tournaments?

Yes and no.

MTR 3.3 contains the following about altered cards. “Artistic modifications are acceptable in sanctioned tournaments, provided that the modifications do not make the card art unrecognizable, contain substantial strategic advice, or contain offensive images. Artistic modifications also may not obstruct or change the mana cost or name of the card.”

Tournament friendly alters are generally art extensions. While art replacements are better for casual environments.

Always check with the Head Judge before using any altered cards in tournament play.

what is the process to purchase altered cards?

Contact the studio about what you would like to get done. We’ll be able to give you a quote on the commission cost and how long the queue is.

A non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot in the queue. If you are ordering original artwork a sketch will be sent out to you before work on the card starts.

All commission work will be sent home in a bubble mailer with tracking. Orders over $50 have free shipping.

How long does the process normally take?

The wait in the queue will never be longer than 10 orders at a time. Which should get cards back to their owners in about 2 months at the longest. If there are delays in working on commissions, posts will be made on socials to keep you updated.

Do you use my card or do you purchase a card before altering?

Whatever is easier for you!

I can add the market value of your card to the order, which will be paid with a non-refundable deposit. Or if you already have a copy, you can mail it out to the studio.
